Can i connect two wireless computers to each other without a router?

i have two computers with wireless cards in both. one has a usb wireless card and the other has an internal wireless card. can i connect them to each other to share files with each other without a wireless router? and how do i do this. thanks much

not wirelessly, they need a router to negotiate a protocol and to recognise the MAC address of the netcards in each other to allow DHCP to work

No im sorry you cant. but what you can do is buy a cheap crossover cable, that works.. or just get a router.
actually u can, using ad hoc (a setting on the wireless card).



I did it once before out of curiosity, and it worked fine, but I don't remember the details. If you want more details, google something like "wireless ad hoc"
