1)Shut the modem, router, and your computer off.

2) Take the Ethernet cord that comes from the modem and plug it into the Internet (WAN) port of the D-Link.

3)Take another Ethernet cord (should have been included with your router and plug it into LAN port 1.

4)Plug the other end into your desktop computer if you have one

or Ethernet port of one of the laptops.

5) Turn on this order: Modem - wait 3 min. Router - wait 1 min. Turn on computer.

6) After computer boots up - see if you can log into your router - (check your book for correct IP address) Open I.E. or any browser and type in the address bar: 192.168.1.1 If you can see the log in screen - default user name is admin and password is password. You will want to change that later.

7)Go to the wireless tab and check to enable wireless networking.

8) Enable secuirity - at least a password in WPA-PSK

9) Click apply at see if you can open your browser to the Internet.

You need to put the cable that is going into the back of your main computer into the WAN port. That will turn your analog signal into radio wave (simple terms). Then you should be able to connect to the default wireless connection. If your other computer doesn't have a wireless NIC then you need to connect the other wire from your LAN1 port into that computer.
